Learning Objectives:

The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with different kinds of theories and their components (constructs, relations, etc.). Students have to present selected theories in their seminar papers and clarify how these theories were developed and how they are being adapted as well as tested in Information Systems Research, especially in the context of current IT-phenomena. Furthermore, students shall become acquainted with research methods, which are used in the development, testing and modification of theories. By preparing both, a seminar paper and the corresponding presentation with a focus on theory development and research methods, students gain competencies, which prepare them to successfully write a master's thesis in terms of research oriented teaching.
