Winners Ideas Competition for Students 2013

The main focus of the Ideas Competition 2013 was the transition from the academic studies to the work field. The University called for ideas that could strengthen and encourage the potential work skills qualifications of their students. It was asked for suggestions on how students could be given support during and especially at the end of their studies, so that they achieve a successful transition from their studies to the professional field, taking into account their individual interests and skills as well as the occupational requirements in the employment market.

The 65 submitted ideas revealed the huge interest on this theme and also that students are willing to participate actively in the Teaching and Learning field.

There were also many ideas about curricula, acquirement of work experience, Alumni-networks and also specific advisory services about work fields.


The five members of the evaluation jury decided in favour of the following entries:

1st Prize (1,000 Euro) :
"Entrance in the journalistic occupational field"
The goal of this idea is the establishment of a programme certificate for journalistic key competences. Students from any subject area can acquire journalistic skills through this additional qualification. More... go to the abstract (pdf in German)

2nd Prize (750 Euro):
"Long night of (postponed) work applications"
In this event students are assisted in writing job applications through coaching and simulated interviews, so that the real applications' process will be easier. More... go to the abstract (pdf in German)


3rd Prize (500 Euro) to:
"Draft of a lesson process: Psychology in dentistry"
Courses in fields like rhetoric, communication and dealing with specific patient groups (e.g. children, patients with fear) should be offered to dental medicine students. At the end of the course(s) it should be possible to receive a certificate. More... go to the abstract (pdf in German)


Non-cash prizes were given to the following students as recognition for their good ideas and engagement:

  • "Online - Forum for final thesis. Bringing lecture hall and profession together“"
  • "Work oriented mentoring for students and graduates in the Social Science Faculty"
  • "Service Learning - practical experience at the University"



The Award Ceremony with invited guests took place on December 4th 2013
