Research interests

Since my postgraduate research, I have used remote sensing, ecosystem and land surface modeling tools combined with field work to study environmental change and ecosystem functioning, primarily concerning forests. My current research focuses on land-atmosphere interactions and the effects oftropical land use change (rainforest conversion to oil palm plantations) on carbon, water and energy fluxes. I developed a land surface module called CLM-Palm (including phenology, allocation, radiative transfer and nitrogen cycle) for this purpose. I also have broad interests in renewable resources and conservation biology..

PhD project

Modeling oil palm monoculture and its associated impacts onland-atmosphere carbon, water and energy fluxes in Indonesia.
