Research interests

I am particularly interested in the consequences of climate change, especially reduced rainfall regimes, on tree physiological properties and their adaptability to changing environmental conditions. This includes wood anatomical traits, water movement e.g. sap flow measurements as well as hydraulic conductivity of roots and twigs, foliar morphology and nutrient content et cetera.
Besides this feasible adaptation of tropical and temperate trees, I would like to gain deeper inside in the physiological mechanisms behind water uptake e.g. hydraulic lift, radial distribution of sap flow under drought stress, and the enhancement of common techniques.
