Plagiarism

What is plagiarism after all? Plagiarism happens when another author?s source, theories, assertions, arguments or full text excerpts are not indicated in an academic text. It is also the case of photos, table and other graphic figures. One of the tasks of the international Writing Center?s team is to ensure the integrity of the student?s individual academic work and protect their responsibility in plagiarism in advance. Plagiarism happens sometimes unintentionally ? somebody forgets to mention a citation as so, citation rules were not clear, or they are overloaded with their own writing process. This is exactly what we want to prevent during the individual advisory sessions and workshops on academic writing. Our aim is to familiarize the student with several forms of citations; they learn how to deal with citations and paraphrasing and in doing so, they are able to fulfill the requirements of academic work.
