Faculty of Economic Sciences bid farewell to Spring graduates

The Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Göttingen bid farewell to Spring graduates on Wednesday, 4 May 2016: In the winter semester 2015/ 2016, 285 students received their degrees: 184 students received degrees in the Bachelor's programmes and 101 students successfully completed a Master's programme. In 2015, 37 doctorates received their doctoral diplomas.

Prof. Dr. Hiltraud Casper-Hehne, Vice-President of Göttingen University, and Prof. Dr. Gerhard Rübel, Dean of Study, welcomed the participants to the festive event. Then spoke Prof. Dr. Jörg-Markus Hitz, member of the Board of Examiners of the Economic Sciences, and Pascal Freier as representative of the alumni.

Awards for outstanding graduates from the Faculty of Economic Sciences in the amount of 1,000 Euros each were also given. The internationally active laboratory and process technology provider Sartorius donated the prize for graduates that is named after the founder of the company. The "Florenz Sartorius-Preis" is awarded to the best graduates in the discipline of Business Administration, Economics, Business Information Systems, and Business and Human Resource Education as well as two distinguished doctoral theses.

The recipients of the graduate prizes in May 2016 are Jan Christoph Hennig (Master of Science in Management) and Jonathan Lucas Moschner (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration), Paul Wiemann (Master of Science in Applied Statistics), Verena Robin (Bachelor of Arts in Business and Human Resource Education) and Pascal Freier (Master of Science in Business Information Systems). Dr. Ossama Elshiewy, Dr. Simon Thanh-Nam Trang and Dr. Hauke Hendrik Vierke were awarded for their doctoral theses. Dr. Elshiewy and Dr. Trang are sharing the prize for their doctoral theses in Business Administration:

  • Dr. Ossama Elshiewy: "The Impact of Voluntary Front-of-Pack Nutrition-Label Introduction on Purchase Behavior - Three Studies Analyzing Supermarket Scanner Data" (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Yasemin Boztuğ)
  • Dr. Simon Thanh-Nam Trang: "Adoption, Value Co-Creation, and Governance of Inter-Organizational Information Technology in Wood Networks" (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Lutz M. Kolbe)
  • Dr. Hauke Hendrik Vierke: "Macroeconomics and the Labor Market" (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Tino Berger)
