Research interests

I focus on land-atmosphere exchange processes in a tropical land-use transformation system in Sumatra, Indonesia. I use micrometeorological measurements and the eddy covariance technique to study microclimate, surface energy budget and greenhouse gas exchange of a mature commercial oil palm plantation. Based on a network of meteorological stations within the study region, I assess the climatological characteristics of tropical forest, rubber and oil palm monoculture to study the impact of land-use change on microclimate. My research is embedded in the Collaborative Research Centre 990: Ecological and Socioeconomic Functions of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation Systems (Sumatra, Indonesia).
