The Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen together with the new Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS) invites applications for the position of a

professorship W2– ”Software Engineering for Data Science“ (all genders welcome)

The professorship is part of the program “Digitalisierungsprofessuren für Niedersachsen“ by the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony and is to be filled as soon as possible. The position is part of the German civil service (Beamtenverhältnis, BesGr. W2 NBesO).

The University of Göttingen is seeking a personality who strengthens the fundamentals of data science and can thus perform a bridging function between software engineering and data science. The research focus of the professorship can be theoretical or application-oriented.

In teaching, the professorship should strengthen the area of software engineering as part of practical computer science, but also offer courses on fundamentals of computer science. In addition to offering specialized research-related courses in the Master's program "Applied Computer Science" and in the planned Master's program "Applied Data Science", a commitment to undergraduate teaching in the Bachelor's programs "Applied Computer Science" and "Applied Data Science" is expected. Göttingen University is committed to research-oriented teaching.

Conditions for appointment can be found in Section 25 of the Higher Education Law of Lower Saxony. As a Public Law Foundation, the University of Göttingen has the right to appoint professors. Further details can be provided upon request.
