The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen invites applications for

Full Professor (W2) for High Performance Computing (all genders welcome)

The position is combined with the deputy director role at the GWDG (Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen) for the HPC division.

GWDG is a joint institution of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Max Planck Society. It fulfils the function of a university computing center for the University of Göttingen and a computer and IT competence center for the Max Planck Society and provides a variety of services for scientific data processing. With the GWDG, Göttingen is developing into a major location for the operation of HPC resources and method research. As operating site of the North German Supercomputing Alliance (HLRN) and joint HPC competence center with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), it provides an attractive environment for HPC research.

The professorship will be part of the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS). The members of CIDAS conduct research at the interface of computer science, statistics, mathematics and application domains and combine method development in the field of computer science with top-level research in the Göttingen research areas. The newly established professorship will contribute to the development of CIDAS.

Therefore, we are looking for a personality who has an outstanding track record in the field of HPC research and would like to contribute to the further development of the location. Possible research foci are, among others:
- Scientific high-performance computing,
- Visualization,
- Numerical simulation,
- Methods for example for parallelization, extreme scaling or fault tolerance on HPC systems and their implementation,
- Data-intensive computing or management of large amounts of data,
- Convergence of HPC and machine learning,
- Innovative HPC infrastructures such as file systems, accelerator technologies.

Experience and competence in management tasks and the combination of research and service tasks are desirable. The professorship should offer courses in the compulsory and optional areas of the Bachelor and Master courses "Applied Computer Science" and "Applied Data Science".

Applications of international scientists are highly encouraged. The University is an equal opportunity and family friendly employer. We specifically encourage women to apply. Disabled persons with appropriate qualifications and aptitude for the position will be given special consideration.

Applications including CV, publications list and details of teaching and research including funded research projects should be submitted by October 19th, 2020 online via the application portal
