At the Mathematical Institute of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Georg August University of Göttingen is available a

W3 professorship „Algebra / Discrete Mathematics“ in the civil service (grade W3 NBesO) with tenure (f/m/d)

We are looking for an internationally recognized scientist with a research profile – for example in the areas of group theory, number theory, or additive combinatorics – that offers links to several research areas at the Mathematical Institute.

We expect
- internationally visible publication record,
- competitive third-party funding,
- the willingness to participate in collaborative projects at the Institute,
- a track record in excellent research-oriented teaching.

We seek a team-oriented and committed personality. Participation in the teaching program of the Mathematical Institute at all levels is expected. In particular, the further development of the teaching program in discrete mathematics for the courses in Data Science is associated with the position. An aptitude for academic self-governance and staff management tasks is also required. The faculty hopes for an intensive involvement in third-party funded projects together with other research groups, for example in the Research Training Group 2491.

The hiring requirements are based on § 25 NHG in the currently valid version. Applicants who have received their doctorate at the University of Göttingen can generally only be considered if they have worked scientifically outside the University of Göttingen for at least two years after receiving their doctorate. If the prerequisites are met, the candidate will be hired as a civil servant. The Foundation University of Göttingen has the right of appointment. Details will be explained upon request.

Applications from scientists from abroad are explicitly welcome. The University of Göttingen strives to increase the proportion of women in areas where they are underrepresented and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. It sees itself as a family-friendly university and promotes the compatibility of science/profession and family. The university has set itself the goal of employing more severely disabled people. Applications from severely disabled persons will be given preference if qualifications are equal. The position is not suitable for part-time employment.
