Equal Opportunities in the Institutional Strategy
Through its Institutional Strategy, successfully submitted in the Excellence Initiative 2007, the University of Göttingen seeks to attract outstanding scientists and scholars and to retain and support them at the University in the long term. In order to achieve these goals, the University is creating framework conditions with respect to structure, developing an organisational culture that promotes gender mainstreaming, and is implementing measures – also at staff level – that ensure equal opportunities.
Alongside gender-equitable career development, a successful gender mainstreaming strategy must embed gender mainstreaming in the quality management system and develop work patterns in science and scholarship that are in tune with our times – allowing for a better compatibility of work and family life.. A successful gender mainstreaming strategy also has a bearing on research quality, through diversity of potential and research perspectives.
