We are delighted and excited to announce the inauguration of the annual ROSA LUXEMBURG STIFTUNG SCHOLARSHIPS IN MODERN INDIAN STUDIES, a scholarship program for students from marginalized backgrounds in India who wish to pursue an MA or PhD in Modern Indian Studies at the Center for Modern Indian Studies, University of Göttingen. Funded by the RLS, the full scholarships are intended to further the joint goals of CeMIS and the RLS: the production and dissemination of rigorous scholarship on the unequal and unjust social relations governing our globalized world. We look forward to welcoming two Rosa Luxembourg Scholars per year to CeMIS! Please see the detailed flyers below on how to apply. We are looking forward to your applications!
Frequently asked questions RLS scholarship
I’m not sure if my background counts as marginalized. What shall I do?
Please read the eligibility criteria again carefully. You have to tell us how you fit--we cannot do that for you.
How can I prove B2 English language proficiency?
The B2 level has to be proven by an recognized test (e.g. IELTS: 5,5 points or TOEFL iBT 79 points).
A study programme taught in English instead of an internationally recognized test meets the requirement only if
- the admission requirement for this study programme was proficiency in English at a B2 level (at minimum) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or
- the level B2 (CEFR) or higher was completed as part of certified academic achievements during the course of studies.
In either case, the institution offering the programme needs to confirm through an official certificate that B2 language level was required for admission or needs to be reached before you graduate. A simple certificate from the higher education institution that a course of study is taught in English is not sufficient.
