Compulsory Attendance Regulation (illness / absence from course / exam)
If regular and active participation is part of the assessment criteria, you are obliged to be physically present at all designated lesson times and dates (Official examination regulations of Göttingen University, Section 14 (5)). Courses that span 4 SWS permit students to be absent without excuse for a total of eight lesson units of 45 minutes each, while courses that span 2 SWS permit unexcused absence of four lesson units of 45 minutes each.
Should your absence persist beyond the above-mentioned parameters due to illness, please proceed as follows:
Promptly submit the form on the right side/ below together with a medical certificate (e.g. a doctor's acknowledgement that you are unfit to work a.k.a. 'AU').
If you are attending a compulsary module as well as another compulsary course, both of which require regular attendance, you shall need to submit an acknowledgement of the attendance regulation for the compulsary course using the form on the right side/ below.
At present, these are the degree programmes affected when combined with the following modules:
- Agricultural Science students (bachelor's only): Intermediate English II for agricultural sciences
- Economics and Business students (BWL & VWL): Business English I
- Economics students (VWL): Business English II
- Biology students: Scientific English I
- Molecular Ecosystem Science students: Scientific Writing
subject to the assessment regulations of the respective degree programme.
Should you be absent from lessons longer than permitted, you shall be required to make up for your absence through an additional assignment in order to be allowed to take the final assessment. In this case, please contact the supervisor of your course.
