Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is a university with an international focus, with headquarters in Trondheim and campuses in Ålesund and Gjøvik. NTNU has a main profile in science and technology, a variety of programmes of professional study, and great academic breadth that also includes the humanities, social sciences, economics, medicine, health sciences, educational science, architecture, entrepreneurship, art disciplines and artistic activities.


Studies: The Department provides teaching within Philosophy and Religious Studies at bachelor's and master's level. NTNU offers PhD opportunities within all three disciplines.

Research in Philosophy and Research in Religious Studies

Research in Philosophy: Research at our section ranges widely, and covers several active research groups and research projects. IFR administers Vitenskapsteoretisk forum, and is closely connected to Programme for Applied Ethics (PAE). Along with PAE, IFR contributes to NTNUs Ethicsportal.
Research in Religious Studies: Our department hosts leading specialists in Islamic studies, conspiracy culture, and south Asian religions, along with the only full time position in Judaism and cognitive science of religion in Norway.

MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society in Oslo

MF offers education and research in close interaction in theology, religious studies, humanities and social sciences. Research and education at MF include the following fields: Biblical Studies and Classical Languages, Diaconal Ministry, Education and Pedagogy, Ethics and Philosophy of Religion, Politics and Science, Practical Theology, Psychology of Religion, Systematic Theology, as well as the Study of Religion.

Research at MF is characterized by various different research groups in all of these fields. Examples are "SELF: Ancient Self-Perceptions in Comparative Perspective" in Biblical Studies and Classical Languages, or "Migration, Minorities and Marginalization" in Diaconal Ministry. These research groups aim to promote and maintain research at MF at high quality, to develop and implement research projects, academic publications and research communication. Academic staff members at MF are typically members of one or more of these research groups, but researchers from other institutions may also be members, making research at MF inter-disciplinary.

VID Specialized University is an accredited, private higher education institution. With approximately 400 employees and 4000 students VID is the third largest private higher education institutions in Norway.

VID Specialized University undertakes education and research in the fields of health and social sciences, educational science, management, diaconia and theology. The University offers approximately 50 study programmes at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels, and our objective is to develop as a national institution through regional cooperation.
