Postdoc Programme


The Mathematical Institute and the Institute for numerical and applied Mathematics in Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany, advise of a postdoctoral guest researcher program of Jilin university in collaboration with members of our institutes. The candidates will be employed by Jilin University for a period of 2+1 years (third year after positive evaluation). The candidates will spend roughly one semester per year in Göttingen, beginning the first semester in Jilin.

Starting date is 1st of March 2022 (to be adjusted upon mutual agreement).

Göttingen is one of the mathematical departments with the most distinguished traditions world-wide, having been home to Gauss, Riemann, Hilbert, Klein to name just a few of our ancestors. The department has an ambitious research program in many areas of pure and applied mathematics.

Jilin University is one of the top universities in China. In 2017, the subject of mathematics was selected into the ranks of the national "Double First Class" discipline construction. There are two national centers, Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Northeast China and National Center for Applied Mathematics in Jilin, affiliated to the School of Mathematics of Jilin University.

The postdoc programme features intensive training and cutting-edge research projects in pure and applied mathematics, focusing in particular on geometry, topology, higher structures, PDE, optimization, mathematical physics.

Your profile: You
- hold a highly qualified PhD in Mathematics
- are willing to set up a research network with us
- are proficient in English
- have (pre-)published results

In addition to the salary of 240,000 yuan/year before tax and social security (roughly 2000 euros per month after tax), the funding also includes travel expenses between China and Germany.
