Learning outcome/ core skills:
After successful attendance, students are able to work independently on a specific topic in innovation management, to develop a sound theoretical foundation for the research project and critically reflect on the topic. The students will be empowered to understand high-quality journal articles, to prepare the results of their work in an elaboration which is written on a high scientific level and present the results within a group. The seminar enables the students to write a master thesis which meets high academic standards. Furthermore, the seminar helps to develop and improve i-portant soft skills like communication and presentation skills as well as abilities for effective teamwork.
Contents:
After an introduction into the basics and methods of understanding and writing theoretical and conceptual scientific texts, the students independently work on selected topics which deal with current, theoretically relevant and impactful issues in innovation management. Exemplary topics of the previous semesters:
  • Interactions with Service Robots
  • Anthropomorphic Chatbot Design
  • Perception of Voice Assistants
  • Trust in Algorithmic Forecasting
  • Digital Nudging
The written elaboration and the group presentation of the results is followed by an in-depth discussion of the results with students and supervi-sors. During the entire seminar, students will be intensively supported by the supervising research assistant.
Examination:
Seminar paper (max. 15 pages) with a presentation (approx. 30 minutes)

Examination requirements:
Scientific examination of a current issue in innovation management in a written form (max. 15 pages per participant) and presentation in a group with two to four group members (approx. 30 minutes). Regular participation is expected.

Registration:
The registration is organized in multiple stages.
The first stage aims to survey the number of students who wish to attend the master seminar at the Department of Marketing and Channel Management in the winter semester of 2021/22 via an online formular that is collectively organized by the Chair of Marketing and Retail Management and the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management. Please note that in rare occasions we may not be able to meet the preferences of every single applicant adequately due to capacity restraints. In addition to the online form, please submit a current transcript of grades by application deadline (via E-Mail to innovationsmanagement@wiwi.uni-goettingen.de). If you don’t have any results at the time of your application, we nevertheless would ask you to submit it for completeness and for reasons of equal treatment. We also kindly ask you to send us a proof of performance, which shows for which exams you have registered for this semester.
In the second stage, the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management will survey the preferences for seminar topics of those students who are assigned to take the chair’s master seminar “Current issues in Innovation Management” in the first stage.
In the final stage, the students complete the registration to the master seminar at the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management by enrolling in the respective master seminar in flexnow.
