Against the backdrop of financial crises, worldwide migration movements, the populist threat to democracy, the Corona pandemic and the climate crisis, the question of how political order can be formed and changed under the conditions of globalization is becoming increasingly clear. What is the relationship between the multiple forms of modern governance and the still important politics of the nation state? The Master's programme combines a compact and research-oriented specialisation in all sub-disciplines of political science with attractive elective options.

Programme descriptionAgainst the backdrop of financial crises, worldwide migration movements, the populist threat to democracy, the Corona pandemic and the climate crisis, the question of how political order can be formed and changed under the conditions of globalization is becoming increasingly clear. What is the relationship between the multiple forms of modern governance and the still important politics of the nation state?

In this degree programme, students deepen their scientific knowledge as well as their skills for independent subject-specific and interdisciplinary scientific work and the application of scientific knowledge. The focus is always on how political order can form and change under the conditions of globalisation.

The Master's programme combines a compact and research-oriented in-depth study of all political science sub-disciplines with attractive elective options.

The degree programme qualifies students for work as political scientists in many fields of activity in public and private institutions by imparting subject-specific knowledge and methodological-analytical skills relevant to the professional field:

  • Media, public relations, political education and adult education
  • politics, administration, associations and NGOs
  • strategy departments of companies, consulting agencies and market and opinion research
  • science and science management

In addition, the Master's programme imparts competences beyond the subject-specific knowledge for taking up doctoral studies.
