Prerequisites – when is a student eligible for compensation of disadvantages?

All students with disabilities and/or chronic diseases are eligible to apply for compensation of disadvantages. Here it makes no difference whether or not the handicap is a recognized severe disability; chronic mental impairments as well as dyslexia and ADD/ADHD also fall into this category.

Consequently, the prerequisites are:

  • that the student suffers from a disability or chronic disease,
  • that the student is actually at a disadvantage if sitting for the examination under normal conditions, and
  • that there is no direct material link between the actual disadvantage and the knowledge and/or skills to be tested in the examination.
