Prize of the Foundation Council of the University of Göttingen for Dr. Benjamin W. Schulze

The Foundation Council of the University of Göttingen honours Dr. Benjamin W. Schulze, lecturer at the Institute for Economic and Social History and former research assistant at the Chair of Economic Policy and SME Research, together with Dr. Dorothee Hemme from the Institute of Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology at the University of Göttingen.

They will receive the 2019 Award of the Foundation Council of the University of Göttingen in the category "Science and Public" for their concept of the exhibition "You know more than you think!" („Ihr wisst mehr als Ihr denkt!“) This exhibition was on view from April 5 to November 17, 2019, at the Günther Grass Archive House in Göttingen and is based on the results of the research project "Objects of the Experts. Materializations of craft experience knowledge between tradition and innovation" („Objekte der Könner. Materialisierungen handwerklichen Erfahrungswissens zwischen Tradition und Innovation“), in short OMAHETI. Using examples from the crafts, it shows that knowledge and skill belong together and why they are a central basis for innovation.

The Foundation Board appreciates the exhibition concept as an innovative example of how new knowledge and understanding of work processes can be communicated to the public. Furthermore, it is a rare example of how the university is also once decisively committed to practices and target groups outside the academic world.

In future, it will even be possible to visit the exhibition online at http://omaheti.gbv.de.
