Curriculum Vitae

Christoph Hönnige is Professor for German Politics at the University of Göttingen since 2011. He studied at the University of Konstanz between 1995 and 2001 and has a degree in Verwaltungswissenschaften. From 2002 until 2007 he was working as Lecturer and research Associate at the Chair for Comparative Politics at the University of Potsdam. He also received his PhD from the University of Potsdam in 2006. Before being appointed in Göttingen he was Assistant Professor for German and Comparative Politics at the University of Kaiserslautern (2007-2011).


Research

His research focuses on three aspects:

- Constitutional courts in comparative perspective and the Bundesverfassungsgericht
- Parliaments and administrative reforms
- Comparative Policy Agendas

In all three research fields he analyses the impact of institutional rules on individual behavior and the behavior of groups. Together with Prof. Dr. Thomas Gschwend (CDSS, University of Mannheim) he is directing the project “The German Constitutional Court as Veto Player” which is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and together with Prof. Dr. Diana Panke (SPIRe, University College Dublin) he is also directing the project „Voice without Vote“ which is sponsored by the Fritz-Thyssen-Foundation.
