Studying Diversity Research in the Social Sciences

Why do many paths to participation remain inaccessible for people with disabilities? Why do women still earn less money for equal work? And why don't people of colour encounter the same structures of opportunities on the job market? What does it mean to be privileged and disadvantaged at the same time? How do organizations respond to diversity?

If you are interested in getting to the bottom of such questions, then you have come to the right place. We offer the first Master's degree course in "Diversity Studies in the Social Sciences" in Germany with the degree "Master of Arts" (M.A.) at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.

In our degree programme you will study theoretical and methodological concepts in order to describe, analyze and work on such processes of diversification and categorization. During the course of your studies you will develop a specific thematic profile. The degree programme is research-oriented, but offers practical insights through internships, stays abroad and the module "Train the Diversity Trainer". After graduation, you should be well prepared for a career in a wide professional spectrum. Possible fields of employment and work are: universities, companies or non-governmental organizations, the areas of human resources, personnel and evaluation research, public relations or the service sector, where you could plan to work as a researcher, a diversity manager or a journalist.
