What are the requirements for a German student visa application?

Once you have been admitted to a study programme, as student planning to travel to Germany, you must meet certain requirements to be issued an entry visa for a period of three months.

You need:

Valid Passport

Admission letter

Adequate Health insurance

Proof of sufficient financial resources

Proof of knowledge of language of instruction

Proof of any academic achievements or qualifications gained up to date

We would recommend that you contact the German Consulate nearest to you. Once in Germany you will have to apply for a residence permit for which you will get assistance from the student tutors.

You have to apply for a visa for study purposes. You cannot change a tourist visa into a visa for students after you arrive in Germany.
