In the current WirtschaftsWoche ranking of the most productive business researchers in the German-speaking world, Prof. Dr. Maik Hammerschmidt is ranked 75th. In the so-called lifetime achievement ranking, i.e. the overall evaluation of all publications to date, he is ranked 180th.
Maik Hammerschmidt holds the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management at the Faculty of Business and Economics since 2010. His research focuses on corporate social responsibility, sustainable innovation and digital service technologies.

Furthermore, Dr. Alfred Benedikt Brendel (79th place) is one of the most research-productive business professors under the age of 40 in the ranking. Until September 2020, he was head of the Digital Health Research Group at the Chair of Information Management of Prof. Dr. Lutz M. Kolbe. Since October, he has been Professor for Business Informatics, esp. Intelligent Systems and Services, at Technical University of Dresden.

The ranking of the most research-intensive business professors in German-speaking countries is compiled for WirtschaftsWoche by the KOF Research Institute at ETH Zurich together with the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics.

The ranking takes into account all business management articles that have appeared in around 860 journals in the five-year period from 2016 to 2020. Depending on the reputation of the journals, the scientists receive a graduated score for each paper. The weighting follows the journal ranking of the Association of University Professors of Business Administration. A total of 3346 people were included in the ranking. In the case of the U40 ranking, there were 481 researchers. The publication data of 4051 scientists were included in the evaluation for the lifetime achievement. The ranking only covers scientific excellence, but not the equally important skills in teaching and training.
