Requirements for admission to the CaSuS programme (see Admission regulations)
For admission to the CaSuS programme a master degree obtained from a two years master programme (120 ECTS), a diploma or a comparable degree is required. Students may also apply after one year of a master programme (corresponding to 60 ECTS), given that their overall grade is 1,5 or higher.
Applicants whose native language is not English have to prove their proficiency in English by successfully graduating “Scientific English II” (University Göttingen, SK.FS.E-FN-C1-2) or a comparable course of another university or by one of the following internationally recognized tests and levels:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with at least 6 points
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English at least with grade “C” (pass)
- At least 550 points in a paper based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- At least 220 points in a computer based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- At least 80 points in the “new internet based TOEFL” (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- C1-Certificate of CEF (Common European Framework)
- UNIcert level III
One of these tests has to be passed successfully within the last three years.
Applicants studying or working in an English speaking country for two years or having a degree in an English programme from another university do not need one of the above mentioned tests.
Admission requirement:
A certain number of points (see Admission regulations) has to be scored
- by high marks in the university degree
- by pointing out the importance / high quality of the research subject
- by demonstrating the special qualification in the interview
- by proof of additional activities (publications, work experience, teaching experience)
Finally, the confirmation of one of the CaSuS research group leaders to supervise the doctoral thesis is required for an application.
