D5 - Central data management: Multivariate spatial analysis and modelling of the dynamics of rainforest margins

Abstract
Sloboda / Saborowski (Göttingen)
After the implementation of the technical as well as administrative infrastructure in phase 2 we will continue to maintain and extend the web-based spatial information system and the compilation and provision of the SFB data along with their meta data in accordance with the Protocol for Data Exchange. The focus for phase 3 will be on the integration of the many disciplines by means of multivariate spatially explicit models, in particular spatially related generalized linear models (GEE) and canonical correlation analysis. The objective is to model the spatial distribution of biodiversity and ecosystem services and to link them to socio-economic data.

In STORMA phase 2, we developed, implemented, tested and calibrated the SITE model (SImulation of Terrestrial Environments), in which we already integrated some of the phase2 STORMA field data and research results. In phase 3, we suggest focusing on integration and analysis of simulation experiments and scenarios. In addition, we plan to add new functionalities to the model with respect to (i) the integration of STORMA results and models, (ii) the explicit representation of land use strategies based on methods of decision theory and operations research, and (iii) the development of a new and innovative scenario methodology.
