The IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC) is a technical committee within IEEE Computer Society, aimed at fostering research and education in scalable computing with applications.

The IEEE TCSC Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award is an annual award to recognize candidates that have recently received a PhD degree for no more than 2 years and have written an outstanding PhD dissertation in the field of the scalable computing with applications. This award is established to encourage doctoral research that combines theory and practice or makes in-depth technical contributions, having the potential to contribute to the IEEE TCSC.

Due to Dr. Kulkarni's outstanding contributions made in his doctoral dissertation (entitled "Resource Management for Efficient, Scalable and Resilient Network Function Chains", conducted at the Computer Networks Group, University of Göttingen, as part of the EU FP7 CleanSky ITN project), he was selected as a winner of the IEEE TCSC Outstanding Ph.D Dissertation Award 2019.

Data Science in metrology – a natural step
Dr. Carla Tameling (Data Scientist, Mahr, Göttingen)

Jan. 21, 2020, 10 a.m. - Jan. 21, 2020, noon Hörsaal MN 09 Geographie, Goldschmidtstr. 3-5, 37077 Göttingen

Facing the challenges of Industry 4.0 we at Mahr develop digital products as well a data base to be able to optimize our production and machines automatically - driven by statistical results. Especially in the metrology sector a vast amount of data is collected. Hence, we need to understand and use this data to satisfy the demands of our customers. In this talk we will give some insights into production metrology. Furthermore, we will discuss the skill profile of a data scientist in industry and show some specific application of data science tools at Mahr.
