Organisational information

Accommodation

  • In the upcoming days you will receive information concerning your place of accommodation. Please get in touch with your host to arrange your arrival at/departure from their home. This way you can already get to know each other prior to your arrival.

  • For those of you, for whom we were unable to find a private host, we have arranged the option of sleeping in a gym in Göttingen. The fee of 2 EUR per person per night will need to be paid at the registration desk in cash. If you prefer to stay at a hotel instead of the gym, you can find a list of hotels in Göttingen on this website, but you have to pay the expenses for this option yourself. Please inform us, in case you don't want to sleep in the gym!

  • If you decide to sleep in the gym, please be aware that you will need to bring a sleeping bag!

Excursions

  • Excursion 1 has slightly changed: instead of visiting the Collection of Musical Instruments, the participants will first visit the Museum am Thie and then the Ethnographic Collection (see excursion 2).

  • Unfortunately, there have been technical difficulties regarding the entering of your second-choice excursion in the registration form. We apologize for this. You will receive information about the final excursion in which you will take part at the registration on Wednesday.

  • Because the number of participants interested in the library tour was higher than expected, unfortunately some of you might not be able to take part.

  • On Saturday afternoon/evening, after our excursions, you will have the opportunity to experience German sauna and spa culture at its best at the Göttingen sauna and spa paradise "Eiswiese" (check out Badeparadies Eiswiese). The entrance fee for students is 10 EUR for four hours or 11 EUR for a day ticket (please bring your student ID!). Of course, it is also possible to only go to the spa part, which is also highly enjoyable (prices range between 2 and 7 EUR). If you are interested in joining the sauna group, send us an email!

Programme

  • Each group from each university or country is supposed to introduce themselves at the opening party on Wednesday night. For this introduction you can already start preparing a song, dance or something similar.

  • On Thursday night the cinema LUMIERE will show the successful documentaries "Hello, Alyonka!", "Master and Evdokia" and "The Bear Dancing on Ob" by Olga Kornienko from Surgut. The entrance fee will be 4 EUR, tickets can be bought at the registration on Wednesday while our supply (100 tickets) lasts; remaining tickets can be bought at the door of the cinema.

  • In addition to the presentations, Santeri Junttila will offer an approximately 90-minute workshop on Finno-Ugric comparative linguistics. Everyone is welcome to take part.

  • Furthermore, there will be a 90-minute presentation and discussion forum on the subject of Finno-Ugric projects and initiatives. If you would like to present something, please send us an email!

  • Some of you were interested in performing something for us at the party on Friday night. Please bring the music you need on a USB flash drive and inform us as soon us possible via email which kind of technical equipment you need.

  • Every university/country group should delegate one person to attend the "round table" on Friday afternoon. At the round table the location of the next IFUSCO will be decided.

Music

  • If you have any Finno-Ugric music that you would like to be played by our DJs on Wednesday night or at the closing party on Friday night, please send a short message.

We are looking forward to welcoming you here in Göttingen!
