Volunteer / Intern

Aatreyee Karmakar is the student intern of the Euroculture Programme. She is earning her second Master’s degree in the department of Anglophone Literatures, Language, and Cultures. After spending her summer term at the University of Edinburgh she was intrigued by the representation of the Gothic in the Scottish landscape. This led her to write her Master’s Thesis titled “Haunted Scottish Fiction in the Twenty-First Century: An Analysis of Louise Welsh’s The Cutting Room and James Robertson’s The Testament of Gideon Mack”. She is keen on continuing her research in the representation of Trauma and Violence in Anglophone Literature. Beside her academic interest in Derrida and Spivak, she enjoys hard-boiled crime fiction, Chopin, Beethoven and a tall Caffè crema. The internship in the Euroculture Programme provides her an insight on the connections of literature and political science. She enjoys the diversity and is delighted to be part of the Euroculture Göttingen family.
