Seminar Management & Organization


Current information:

The Seminar "Management & Organization" for Bachelor students deals with the topic 'Organizational Culture and Cultural Change' in the winter semester 2023/24. In this context, topics such as 'Models of Organizational Culture', 'Selected Typologies of Culture', 'Organizational Culture in an International Context', or 'Cultural Change in Organizations' will be discussed and illustrated with the help of case studies from practice (e.g. Google, IKEA, VW or Toyota). The seminar is expected to take place in presence.

Information on seminar participation:

  • Dates:
    Kick-off with topic allocation: on Tue, November, 07 2023 from 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm (including distribution of topics).
    Outline discussion: on Tue, November, 14 2023 from 4.15 pm - 5.45 pm
    Submission of seminar papers: on Tue, December, 05 2023 by 2 pm
    Weekly meetings: each Tuesday December , 19 - February, 06 2023, 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm
  • After receiving a seminar place (central allocation), registration takes place at the Professorship and in FlexNow.
  • In the kick-off event on November, 07 2023 you will receive, among other things, an introduction to scientific work as well as your topics for the seminar papers.


Requirements and credits:

  • Production of a seminar paper in individual work (12 pages),
    Submission: no later than December, 05 2023, 14pm
    (You should use the time from November, 07 - December, 05 intensively for writing your seminar paper!)
  • Design of a seminar lesson in groups (probably in presence): presentation, handout as well as interactive elements
  • Active participation within the seminar

Background information:
Organization is a central aspect of management theory that deals with the successful design and direction of organizations. The seminar will cover current topics in organization. These include, for example:


  • Internal communication in agile organizations
  • Critical success factors of interorganizational collaborations
  • Trends and developments in change management
  • Stock corporations in theory and practice: corporate governance, strategy and organization


The seminar is aimed at bachelor students. The focus is on becoming acquainted with theoretically as well as practically relevant questions of organization as well as the introduction to scientific work: The processing and presentation of scientific tasks as well as their written elaboration in a term paper serve your targeted preparation for the bachelor thesis. The elaboration and presentation of the topics in small groups as well as their subsequent discussion in the plenum promote your rhetorical skills and social competences. The presentation of the results and the independent design of a seminar hour - combined with detailed feedback - will support you in your presentation skills and routine.
