Prof. Lipp appointed to the German Ethics Council

On April 11th, 2016 Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Volker Lipp, managing director of the Center for Medical Law, was appointed as a member of the German Ethics Council for four years by the president of the Bundestag (Federal Parliament of Germany), Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, in recognition of his expertise and commitment.

The German Ethics Council consists of 26 members, who represent scientific, medical, religious, philosophical, ethical, social, economic and legal concerns in an outstanding way. The ethics council is an independent committee, which publishes statements and recommendations for political and legislative acting. It also advices the German Bundestag as well as the federal government on ethical and legal issues - especially those regarding life sciences.

Prof. Lipp has dedicated himself to these types of questions throughout his academic activity. Furthermore, the work in the Ethics Council is important for him, as this committee has proven to be an important link between politics, public and science. His appointment underlines the leading position of the Göttingen Center for Medical Law.
