  • Individual tips and advice on research methods and possible approaches to your writing projects by our tutors

Registration till 30th of August over StudIP (event: ?Akademische Schreibwoche?, number: 4502364)

The International Writing Centre - positioned within the department - Interkulturelle Germanistik? (Intercultural German Studies) ? invites all students of the University of Göttingen to write together and exchange ideas with other writers a whole week long. In a mixture of writing-, break- and consultation rooms in the 4th floor of the Multi-purpose building (VG) many things can happen from September 5th till 9th: New ideas can be created, old ideas may be quashed, consultations of experienced writing tutors can be useful, an exchange between likeminded writers takes place and creates new perspectives, one?s (academic) writing project will be continued, revised, finished.
A problem shared is a problem halved and the working process is even easier to structure because of the regularity of the event.

In the week from September 5th to 9th 2016 several rooms in which you can write will be generated on 4th floor of the Multi-purpose building (VG) on the central campus. Here, students can work intensively on their working projects every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and hopefully finish one or other text. Rooms for individual counseling and a break room will also be offered.
By writing together in a friendly environment one feels less lonely to work on their project. This sense of community helps to structure the working process and promotes engagement.

Every day till 4 p.m. writing tutors from the International Writing Center are available in case you get stuck in your writing process or if you want to try out new ways of writing academic texts. The tutors provide professional advice concerning the structure of the writing process and the preparation of final papers and theses, as well as other scientific texts, such as those for publication. To start well the writing day the team from the International Writing Center offers every morning a Kick-off-Workshop with several writing activities.
Throughout the day there is a separate break room with coffee and tea where you have the opportunity to exchange ideas about writing in an informal setting.
The Faculty of Social Sciences will also take actively part on the Writing Week: The writing tutors are ready to answer your questions concerning scientific texts that are written in socio-scientific subjects.
The exact times when you can see the writing tutor of the Faculty of Social Sciences will be posted in the writing rooms and the break room during the writing week.

If you are writing an empirical thesis and want to make use of support on research methods you will have the opportunity to contact members of the Student Consultation in Qualitative and Quantitative Research. The consultants are available for the participants on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The opening will take place on Monday 5th September at 10 a.m. in the Multi-purpose building (VG) room 4.101.
