On July 1 2016, Prof. Dr. Krisztina Kis-Katos became the new Chair of International Economic Policy at the University of Göttingen. Before joining the University of Göttingen Faculty of Economic Sciences, she was an "Akademischer Rat" (Assistant Professor) at the University of Freiburg Chair of International Economic Policy.

The main areas of research for the 41-year old are in the areas of applied empirical economic research, focusing on topics such as the relationship between globalization and development and political economy. Her empirical contributions center on the impact of foreign trade reform on firms, households, and regions in developing countries, and the investigation of the consequences of institutional change, corruption, terrorism and corruption; among others. When teaching, she prioritizes material from regions in both global and regional development, political economy, and applied econometrics.

After completing her degree in economics at the University of Szeged in Hungary, and a doctoral programme at the Study Center Gerzensee, a Foundation of the Swiss National Bank, in 2010, Krisztina Kis-Katos completed her dissertation titled "Globalization and child labor" at the University of Freiburg Chair of International Economic Policy (Prof. Dr. Günther G. Schulze). The habilitation took place six years later in Freiburg. Following the habilitation, she was the acting professor for the Technical University of Dortmund Chair of Urban, Regional, and International Economic Relations.

Krisztina Kis-Katos is a member of the German Economic Association (Committee for Developing Countries), the Board of the European Public Choice Society, and the editorial board of the "European Journal of Political Economy". She is also a research fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn. Prof. Kis-Katos is married and has two children.
