Department of Business Administration intensified its relationship with China

In 2016, the Department of Business Administration, intensified its relationship with partner universities and other cooperation partners in China. From 29 February to 4 March, a delegation of the department (around 20 members) travelled to Shanghai and Nanjing to develop opportunities for reseach collaboration, as well as exchange programmes for students (undergraduate and graduate), post-docs, and professors.

In September, Prof. Dr. Lutz M. Kolbe, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Prof. Shen Kunrong, Dean of the Nanjing University Business School signed an official agreement for a double degree programme, in Göttingen, within the framework of the faculty's new master's programme, Global Business.

From 24-28 October, students and lecturers of the Nanjing University Business School visited the Faculty. In addition to a visit to Sartorius and Volkswagen, the Chair of Human Resources Management and Asian Business (Prof. Dr. Dr. Fabian J. Froese), in addition to other activities, led a joint workshop with master's students and representatives from companies.

Progressive internationalization of teaching and support for international students

The master's programme in development economics of the Faculty of Economic Sciences has been included in the scholarship programme "development-related post-graduate programmes" (EPOS) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the period of 1 July 2018 to 31 December 2025. Up to eight students of the master's programme in development economics from developing and emerging countries will be given an annual individual scholarship and an accompanying support programme. The funding is provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

In addition, the master's programme in development economics will offer a new double degree option with the University of Florence (Italy) starting in the 2017/18 winter term. New exchange programmes have also been established with Thammasat University in Thailand, Beijing Normal University in China, as well as the Catholic University in Cameroon, and the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Students who do not go abroad can also acquire international and intercultural skills directly in Göttingen. The University of Göttingen is the only university in the country that systematically integrates international content into the teaching curriculum across various subjects. This includes courses and lectures in English, comparative cultural and culturally-focused course offerings, as well as exchange programmes with foreign partner universities. The Faculty of Economic Sciences is, in addition to the faculties of theology and law, one of three institutions involved in the project. Students, as well as staff of these institutions work together with representatives from business and society to further internationalize the teaching curriculum.
