18.04.2024 - Paulownia update: the replanted trees begin to take root
In November 2023, to make space for a water cistern in front of the Psychology Institute in the Goßlerstraße (GEMI), several trees had to be removed (see entry on 14.11.2023). Before removing the trees, gardeners identified promising looking shoots which they then planted in various locations around the university campus - these trees have now started to take root.

14.11.2023 - Replanting Paulownia
A cistern for water retention and storage will be installed in front of the Psychological Institute building in Goßlerstraße as part of the HuCaB. To make this possible, the trees in front of the building needed to be removed unfortunately; the meadow area will be replanted once the HuCaB has been completed. However, the trees have not been completely disposed. The gardeners have dug them up and identified promising shoots so that they can be replanted in a suitable place on the university grounds.

The demolition party offered the opportunity to say goodbye to the old, outdated buildings at Goßlerstrasse 14 (the so-called "Baracke" and the "Fischhalle") and to get ready for the coming construction phase together. We would like to thank all colleagues, guests and the presidental board for the successful evening.

GWK funds research building Human Cognition and Behavior
The Joint Federal and State Science Conference (GWK) supports the Human Cognition and Behavior (HuCaB) research building at the University of Göttingen. The GWK announced this today. The new building will house an interdisciplinary center for research into human social cognition. In addition, the funding commitment enables the purchase of several major research instrumentations. This also includes a magnetoencephalograph (MEG) for millisecond-precise, noiseless and contactless recording of brain activity.
