All about studying and teaching

Enrolment rates have reached a 25-year high

In the 2015/16 winter term, more than 4,500 students were enrolled at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Across the University, over 31,400 students were enrolled, bringing the enrolment level close to the 1994 all-time high of 31,641 students.

On 17 October, the beginning of the lecture period, the Faculty of Economic Sciences welcomed 946 incoming students. In the 2016 summer term, 490 students commenced their studies at the Faculty.

Around 680 students graduated from the Faculty in 2016, with either a bachelor's or master's degree, and 48 research associates successfully completed a doctoral degree.

Students help refugees - the Faculty's business education members work with vocational schools

Since the beginning of the 2016 summer term, students at the Faculty of Economic Sciences' business education, business administration, and economics majors have supported refugees aged 16-21 at vocational schools in Göttingen, Northeim, and Hann. Münden. They help refugees learn German and provide technical and practical lessons. This is made possible by the "Projekt zur Unterstützung bei der Sprachförderung und Integration von Schutz- und Asylsuchenden an beruflichen Schulen" (Project for supporting language support and integration for the protection of refugees and asylum seekers at vocational schools) by the Chair of Business Education and Human Resource Development (Prof. Dr. Susan Seeber).

In September, the chairs and Faculty itself invited students and teachers who participated in the project in the summer, to Göttingen for the first time. Around 160 people from vocational schools from Göttingen and Northeim, along with students and project coordinators, explored the campus starting at the Platz der Göttinger Sieben in the form of a campus rally, learning about the "Theater im OP" and learning about studying at the University.
