Dr. Simon Trang is the new assistant professor for Information Security and Compliance

On 1 April 2018, Dr. Simon Trang became the new assistant professor of the Chair of Information Security and Compliance at the University of Goettingen Faculty of Economic Sciences. The junior professorship ('Juniorprofessur') was newly created.

His research focus lies in the areas of information security, strategic IT management, and networked businesses. At the Faculty of Economic Sciences, he will primarily teach courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels in the areas of business administration and business information systems.

Simon Trang, born in 1986, studied business information systems (BS and MS) at the University of Göttingen, Seoul National University in Korea, and at Aarhus University in Denmark. In 2015, he completed his PhD at the University of Göttingen in the research area of governance of inter-organizational IT of networked businesses. Using the example of timber industry networks, he investigated how efficient control mechanisms can ensure sustainable value-added for IT. Following his PhD, Simon Trang worked as an enterprise architect in strategic IT management at a leading energy company in Germany.

During his doctoral studies in 2014, Simon Trang also participated in a research stay at the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. He is a member of the Association for Information Systems. He has also refereed articles for various academic journals such as: the Journal of Cleaner Production, WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK, and the Journal of Business Research.
