Effects of oil palm expansion and related land-use changes on non-farm households in rural Indonesia

Jonida Bou Dib is a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholar and PhD student with a background in agricultural economics and management. She started her research work in the CRC 990 in October 2014. Her research concentrates on evaluating micro-level impacts of land use transformation on income and income distribution among rural households in Jambi. In addition to focusing on smallholder farm households, she also analyzes income effects for non-farm households who are affected through rural labor markets. Many non-farm households work on rubber and oil palm plantations as agricultural laborers. Jonida´s research builds on household survey data collected as part of the C07 project. For the analysis, she uses different statistical and econometric techniques.
