Professor Matin Qaim was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). CIMMYT, with its headquarters in Mexico, is one of the 15 Centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). In the 60s and 70s, CIMMYT research significantly contributed to the success of the Green Revolution, and also today the Center’s research focus is on developing new wheat and maize varieties to help reduce hunger and poverty.
