University of Goettingen-India Profile

India has recently emerged as an important scientific and technological leader through its impressive and growing network of excellent universities and institutions. The University of Goettingen has selected India as one of the key-strategic regions for academic cooperation. The main objective of the India Office, established in 2008, is to facilitate, coordinate and support the academic exchange activities and cooperation projects with partner institutions in India. The office serves as a focal point for implementation of strategic measures, networking, meetings and discussions for faculty, students, alumni and representatives from university, funding organizations, research labs and industry.

Building on the traditions of the Indology Institute (est. 1826), the Center for Modern Indian Studies (est. in 2009) has a focus on interdisciplinary research and education on the economic, political and socio-cultural developments in modern India.
