The Felix Bernstein Institute for Mathematical Statistics in the Biosciences
at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Georg-August-University of Göttingen seeks qualified applicants for the position of a
(Salary pay grade 13 TV-L, at 75% of regular working hours, currently 29, 85 hours/week) starting on or after July 01, 2017 for the duration of 1 year with an option for extension.
The successful applicant will develop and apply statistical methods to data on manifolds and stratified spaces that arise in various biometric applications, ranging from fingerprint analysis to adult stem cell differentiation. The research may focus more on theory or more on application.
Prospective applicants are required to hold a strong mathematics Master or Diploma specialized in stochastics/statistics with an additional background in basic differential geometry and a willingness to branch out to other fields.
There will be a teaching duty of 2hrs per week.
