We seek a research assistant (PhD candidate) to join our inorganic chemistry team working in the field of organometallic lanthanide chemistry. The focus of our research is the study and development of single-molecule magnets that have great potential applications in the area of data storage and processing. We are interested in understanding the origin of the different relaxation processes occurring in this type of molecules.

Specifically, the goal of the project is to synthesize new radical-bridged multi-metallic lanthanide complexes and study their spectroscopic and particularly magnetic properties by employing various spectroscopic methods (NMR, EPR, IR) and SQUID magnetometry. The research assistant needs to be familiarized with air-sensitive techniques such as Schlenk line or glovebox techniques. Although not a prerequisite, candidates with experience in molecular magnetism will be given priority in the selection process.

As the project is very interdisciplinary, excellent knowledge of scientific English for speaking, reading and writing is required.
