Research

The Göttingen Research Campus is well prepared for a concerted effort towards membrane nanodomains. The emerging research network assembles different research expertises about membrane nanodomains ranging from chemistry and experimental and theoretical physics to life sciences. The groups participating in the consortium as well as their fields of expertise are summarized in the following figure. Of note, the borders are free flowing.

Groups participating in the CRC and their major fields of expertise.

Research within the planned CRC can be grouped into three major areas:

  • Bioorganic and biochemical approaches to elucidate and manipulate membrane nanodomains
(Diederichsen, Janshoff, Steinem, Ficner, Schwappach, JRG1)

  • Biophysical and theoretical approaches to describe structure and dynamics of membrane nanodomains
    (Hell/Eggeling, Enderlein, Schmidt, Wolf, JRG2)

  • Analysis of structure and function of membrane nanodomains in the cellular environment
(Göpfert, Lehnart, Jahn, Brose, Moser, JRG3)

While several PIs are involved in more than one area, their contribution is presented only for one major area for ease of readability.
