The Georg August University including the University Hospital is the largest employer in the region with more than 13,100 employees. It provides an extensive level of cultural contributions, as well as a transfer of knowledge for economic application. More than 30 innovative start-up companies have been formed in the last 4 years. In cooperation with renowned companies from across the region, the University of Göttingen - as the first university in Germany to make its own financial contribution - has founded the investment company “Innovations-Capital Göttingen GmbH”, which participates in company start-ups originating from within the university. The main focus is on technology-oriented spin-off companies.
