Intermodality of HSR-stations in small major cities (10/2009-09/2010)

Project management: Dr. Tobias Behnen
Project period: October 2009 to September 2010

Project objectives:
The aim of this project was to analyse the intermodal quality of german stations with ICE-connections in small major cities. The main hypothesis was: “High speed rail connections enhance smaller cities but the intermodal quality of the stations is negatively affected by the communication and cooperation of the stakeholders which is in need of improvement.”

Qualitative interviews with stakeholders (> 30) and quantitative interviews with passengers (> 3.000) were conducted by students in Göttingen (Lower Saxony), Hildesheim (Lower Saxony) and Fulda (Hesse).
