About us

Tag der offenen Sammlung 2018

The "Collection of historical childrens and young adults books" belongs to the Seminar für Deutsche Philologie and is situated in the Waldweg building. Here you can either borrow new children's books or read in the library. In addition, this library accommodates two collections of historical children's books: the Seifert Collection and the Vordemann Collection. Even though the precious volumes of the collections are kept under lock and key, they are part of a special teaching library concept. The library is not only a place where you can read books in private; there are also tutorials about historical children's literature. Students are involved in the realization of many exhibitions, annotations of catalogues and exhibition tours.
The room of the teaching library is suitable for individual and group work, and seminars dealing with children's literature research and the promotion of reading.
