In Göttingen buses represent the city's public transport: 50,000 people use them every day and are connected to all parts of town with nearly 500 bus stops all over Göttingen and outside (buses connect Göttingen to Bovenden and Rosdorf). The service is provided by the Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe (GöVB).
19 bus lines, of which eight operate Friday through Sunday nights between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., ensure efficient and reliable transport for everyone. With the university's Semester Ticket for students public transport is free of charge starting from October 2014. A regular ticket costs 2,10 Euro (Bovenden and Rosdorf 2,40) also for the night buses.
You can choose from a variety of tickets: from single-ride to 4- and 8-ride tickets, over to unlimited 1-day, 7-day or monthly passes. These can be purchased on every bus, at a number of shops and tobacconists, or at the GöVB Service Centre (Kundenzentrum der GöVB) at Markt 3, near the Old Town Hall.
