The Institute for Mathematical Stochastics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Georg-August-University of Göttingen seeks qualified applicants for the position of a

PhD Student
(Salary pay grade 13 TV-L, at 75% of regular working hours, currently 29,85 hours/week)

starting on or after February 01, 2018 for the duration of 3 years.

The successful applicant will study stochastic population models and interacting particle systems that are described by stochastic processes such as stochastic (partial) differential equations and coalescent processes. Applications of the models considered generally focus on population genetics and ecology but also on the study of complex networks.

Prospective applicants are required to hold a strong mathematics Master or Diploma specialized in (applied) probability theory. An interest in biological applications is expected.

There will be a teaching duty of 3hrs per week.
