In publica commoda

On 1st of April 2015 Katharina Kunze joined the University of Göttingen's Faculty of educational sciences as professor for Educational Studies with a focus on pedagogical practice and professionalization. Previously she was research associate at the University of Hannover where she conducted research on the education of teachers during their traineeship (Referendariat). This research project was directed by Prof Andreas Wernet and promoted by the German Research Association (DFG).

Katharina Kunze obtained a PhD at the University of Mainz where, among other things, she carried out research on the professionalization of teachers and the development of full-time day schools. Her dissertation, entitled "Professionalisierung als biographisches Projekt", was honored with the Mainz University Award.

Her main research interest concerns the empirical nature and the theoretical conception of educational practice. In particular, she is interested in the practical development of basic knowledge and skills that correspond with the requirements of pedagogical actions.

At the moment, she is doing research on multiprofessional collaboration. For instance, she investigates the responsibilities of different pedagogical professionals in connection with the development of full-time day schools. Another branch of research represents the question of how diversity is produced and dealt with in the context of academic teaching. Thereby, she lays a special focus on the students' perspective.
