Details The roundtable „Challenges of Current Migration Studies“ brings together outstanding academics of the field to debate prevailing issues of contemporary migration research with regard to methodological and theoretical approaches. In particular, they discuss the implications that the developments since the “refugee crisis” in 2015 have had for analytical and empirical inquiry. The panelists are Prof. Dr. Carlos Sandoval García (Institute for Social Research, University of Costa Rica), Prof. Dr. Georges Eugene Fouron (Department of Africana Studies, Stony Brook University, New York) and Dr. Mulki Al-Sharmani (Faculty of Theology, University of Helsinki). Prof. Dr. Steven Vertovec (Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Göttingen) moderates the session.
The roundtable is part of the Opening Conference of the Centre for Global Migration Studies (CeMig) "Migration as a Global Challenge: Interdisciplinary Approaches to a Complex Field" (21.-23.06.2018)
