Breeding methods, performance and adaptation of maize populations.

Development of a diverse population for further approaches in science, breeding and practical agriculture. Funded by BMEL - BÖLN. Cooperation with Research & Breeding Dottenfelderhof; Bayerische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft, Naturland e.V., Getreidezüchtung Peter Kunz, Kompetenzzentrum Ökolandbau Niedersachsen and Bundessortenamt.
In two different populations the effect of four breeding methods to increase the performance of population cultivars is investigated:

  • positive mass selection with and without emasculation
  • Selection of S2 lines
  • recurrent haploid selection
